What is sandarak?
The sandarak tree grows in North Africa, especially in Morocco and SE Spain in hot areas. It can grow to a height of 15 m. The wood is dark red or brown. It belongs to the cypress class and to the extended white cedar family. A few days after scratching a trunk or branch, they collect golden yellow drops of resin with a dusty surface.
